Right on C. Mayor, 136, 03190 Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante, Spain, Restaurante Asia is one of those places you might walk past without realizing how much it has to offer-until you step inside and smell the unmistakable aroma of freshly prepared Asian cuisine. I’ve visited several times over the past year, both for quick weekday lunches and relaxed weekend dinners, and each experience has been consistently satisfying.

The menu is impressively varied, covering Chinese, Thai, and other Asian-inspired dishes. You’ll find classics like sweet and sour chicken, beef with black pepper sauce, and spring rolls, but also more nuanced plates such as Thai green curry and stir-fried noodles with prawns. During my last visit, I ordered the house special fried rice along with crispy duck. The rice arrived steaming, with perfectly separated grains-something chefs trained in traditional wok techniques take seriously. According to the World Association of Chefs’ Societies, maintaining high heat and constant movement in a wok is essential to preserve texture and flavor, and you can really taste that method here.

What stands out most is the balance. Asian cooking often relies on harmony between sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami flavors. At this restaurant, that balance feels intentional rather than accidental. The hot and sour soup, for example, had just enough tang to wake up the palate without overpowering the spices. It’s a small detail, but it shows care in preparation.

I’ve also paid attention to how the staff handle service during peak hours. On busy Friday nights, the dining room fills quickly, yet the team manages orders efficiently. From what I observed, they follow a structured service flow-orders are confirmed clearly, dishes are timed well, and tables are checked without being intrusive. In the hospitality industry, this kind of operational consistency is often what separates average diners from places that earn loyal customers and strong reviews.

Speaking of reviews, many locals in Pilar de la Horadada praise the generous portion sizes and fair pricing. In my experience, that reputation is deserved. A shared starter, two main dishes, and drinks are reasonably priced compared to other Asian restaurants in the Alicante province. Considering the rising cost of dining out across Spain, especially in coastal areas, finding value without sacrificing quality is refreshing.

The interior is simple but welcoming. Clean lines, traditional decorative touches, and neatly arranged tables create a comfortable setting for families and couples alike. I’ve noticed a steady mix of local residents and tourists, which usually signals reliability. When both groups return, it often means the food meets expectations across different tastes and cultural backgrounds.

Another aspect worth mentioning is food safety and freshness. Spain enforces strict hygiene standards for restaurants, and from what I could see-the open visibility of the kitchen entrance, the clean tableware, and the prompt clearing of plates-the establishment adheres to those standards. While I don’t have access to official inspection reports, nothing during my visits suggested otherwise.

One evening, I asked about vegetarian options for a friend. The staff quickly recommended tofu with vegetables and a mixed vegetable stir-fry, adjusting spice levels on request. That flexibility reflects an understanding of modern dining preferences. Today, more people look for customizable meals, whether for dietary reasons or personal taste.

If you’re exploring dining locations in Pilar de la Horadada and craving noodles, rice dishes, or flavorful curries, this spot delivers a genuinely enjoyable experience. It’s not about flashy presentation or trendy fusion experiments. Instead, it focuses on fresh ingredients and authentic flavors, prepared with consistency and served in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

  • Given a free glass of sangria and some prawn crackers before I'd even sat down. 3 course meal and half a bottle of wine for under €12. Good Chinese food. What's not to like?

  • Amazing meal here, and fantastic value for money. Myself and a friend had a platter of sushi which was amazing and such a huge portion we couldn't finish it. My husband had the ribs, which he said were the best he had tasted. Lovely staff, so friendly, even helped me down steps (dodgy knee)

  • I dine at this restaurant frequently and consistently enjoy the experience. The staff are welcoming and polite, and the service is impressively efficient. On occasion, the main courses follow the starters a little too quickly, but this is a minor detail in an otherwise excellent dining experience. The food is always of high quality, served at a reasonable price, making it a reliable choice for both casual and special occasions. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a well-prepared meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

  • The food is great, the price is even better but the best thing about this place is the staff. Every single person that spoke to us (and this was quite a few people!) was lovely. The service was really quick without being rushed and they were very accommodating and friendly with the kids too.

  • Consistently good Chinese restaurant with good food and service. Particularly good spare ribs. Photos also show the Spring Roll starters, Duck Pancakes and Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. Easy parking in immediate area of the restaurant. Recommended.

  • Fantastic experience and lovely food. We chose one of the menu's for two persons. A prawn sallad with mango and avocado as starter. Then chicken chop suy, sizzling beef and duck orange as main course. For desert we had lemon icecream with coffee. The offered us a limonchella to go.
